AKP, ISACC discuss common agenda August 12, 2010
In a meeting last August 12, representativces of the Ang Kapatiran Party (AKP) and Institute for Studies in Asian Church and Culture (ISACC), agreed to cooperate in areas where the groups shared values. These areas include activites and programs such as the protection of human life, dismantling of political dynasties, national debt, and barangay empowerment. The breakfast meeting covered possible areas of cooperation such as a common legislative agenda, which included a [roposed gun control bill, the disarming of private armies, pro-life response to reproductive rights, and the repealing of laws mandating automatic appropriations to service debts. Also discussed were popular education with socio-cultural issues and the exchange of research and media dissemination (e.g. position on constitutional change). Representing ISACC at the meeting were its President and founder, Dr. Melba Maggay, and former Congressman Willie Villarama. They met with AKP President Eric Manalang, founder Nandy Pacheco, and Mr. Norman Cabrera. ISACC is an evangelical, church-based research and training organization. |
